What is the general width of road markings?

The width of road markings varies depending on the type and usage scenario. According to relevant specifications such as the "Design Rules for Highway Traffic Safety Facilities" (JTG/TD81-2017), the common width of road markings is as follows:

Roadway edge line: the width of expressway and first-class highway with design speed of 120km/h and 100km/h is 20cm; the width of expressway, first-class highway and second-class highway with design speed of 80km/h and 60km/h is 15cm; the width of third-class highway and fourth-class highway with design speed of 40km/h and 30km/h is 15cm; the width of fourth-class highway (double lane) with design speed of 20km/h is 10cm, and it is also 10cm for single lane.

The boundary line of the same direction roadway: when the design speed is ≥ 60km/h, the line width is generally 15cm; when the design speed is<60km/h, the line width is 10cm or 15cm.

The boundary line of the opposite carriageway is generally 15cm wide.

Pedestrian crossing line: The width is usually 40cm or 45cm.

Stop line: The width is generally 40cm.

Diversion line: The line width is generally 40cm or 45cm, the line spacing is generally 60cm, and the maximum should not exceed 80cm.

Grid lines: The line width is generally 10-15cm.

Tide lane line: The line width is 15cm.
